Kučka Korita power outage hampers water supply and tourism

Residents of the Kučka Korita settlement near Podgorica have endured multi‑day electricity outages since early June 2026. The loss of power disabled hydro‑pumps, leaving households without water, and extinguished mobile signal, complicating communication for locals and arriving tourists. Local entrepreneur Boban Mijović warned that his restaurant, holiday cottages and guest services could not operate without electricity, jeopardising upcoming German visitors.

The outages coincided with severe weather from 22 to 25 June, which caused faults on the 10 kV “Ubli” distribution line feeding the area. The Montenegrin electricity distributor CEDIS reported that the medium‑voltage network is technically sound but that a segment of the line, including five transformer stations serving Kučka Korita, suffered repeated failures. CEDIS has already spent over €300 000 on line refurbishment, replacing 169 of 184 poles and upgrading more than 10 km of cable, with the remaining works slated for completion by the end of summer. Authorities have urged residents to submit a collective request to the municipal community to accelerate the response.
