Turkey's nationwide drug crackdown arrests 935 suspects

Turkey’s interior ministry coordinated a large‑scale drug operation across 73 provinces. Over two weeks, 2,670 teams comprising 6,675 personnel, 17 aircraft and 34 narcotics‑detection dogs carried out simultaneous raids. Authorities seized 985 kg of illegal drugs and 1,639,239 pills. A total of 1,780 suspects were detained; 935 were ordered to be held in custody, 224 received judicial control, and the remainder await further proceedings.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi later told a news broadcast that, for the first half of 2026, Turkish security forces had launched 28,068 drug‑related operations, reflecting an ongoing nationwide effort to dismantle drug networks.
