Japan community events: Kumamoto relief fair and local festivals
A variety of local cultural and community events are scheduled across Japan for late 2026.
In Fukui, a ‘Kumamoto Support Fair’ is being held at Seibu Fukui to assist Kumamoto Prefecture following earthquake-related tourism declines. The event features approximately 40 types of Kumamoto specialties, including horse sashimi and red beef, with proceeds donated to disaster recovery. The mascot Kumamon has appeared to support the initiative.
Other upcoming events include the ‘Nikun Nikun Machida BASE ’26’ outdoor festival in Machida, featuring 20 meat-focused food trucks and live music. In Tokyo, the ‘Fruit Fest Bunka-sai 2026’ is launching a crowdfunding campaign to promote fruit as a cultural element through markets and workshops in Shimokitazawa.
Additionally, the ‘N’s Marche with Mt. Fuji Meeting’ will take place in Fuji City, combining a market with car exhibitions and social welfare support. In Kumagaya, the ‘Nyaorai Market’ will return to Tiara 21, offering cat-themed goods and gourmet food.
