Kumamoto earthquake: Companies launch relief and donation initiatives
Various companies are launching initiatives to support recovery efforts following the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake.
Nisshin Seifun Group has announced a donation of 10 million yen to Kumamoto Prefecture. The company also plans to conduct fundraising activities among its executives and employees to provide additional support.
Kaneryo Kaiso Co., Ltd., a seaweed manufacturer based in Uto, Kumamoto, will launch the ‘Eat for Reconstruction Support: Together Forward! Kumamoto’ project starting September 1, 2026. The company will donate 3 yen for every bag of three specific Ariake seaweed products sold, marked with a reconstruction support sticker, to Kumamoto Prefecture. Kaneryo Kaiso reported that its headquarters and Kumamoto plant were damaged in the earthquake but resumed normal operations on August 2 after rapid internal repairs.
