Relief efforts launch for Kumamoto earthquake and Nepal flood victims

Various organizations and businesses are launching relief efforts following recent natural disasters in Kumamoto, Japan, and Nepal.

In Japan, Menya Kotetsu is hosting a ‘Kumamoto Fair’ starting September 10, 2026, donating 30 yen per bowl of Kumamoto-style ramen to Kumamoto City to support recovery from the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto earthquake. Additionally, the New Japan Sports Federation has collected over 936,000 yen for earthquake victims, and Clark Memorial International High School is conducting donation drives for both the Kumamoto earthquake and recent heavy rains in Chiba.

Regarding the large-scale landslides and floods in Nepal that occurred on August 26, 2026, international and local entities are mobilizing aid. The Japan Platform (JPF) has initiated a relief program targeting the affected northern and central regions, aiming for a budget of 120 million yen to provide medical care, food, and water. Kitakyushu City is also collecting donations through local government offices to be sent to the Japanese Red Cross for Nepal's recovery efforts.
