Kumamoto Earthquake Relief Efforts by Izakaya Koshien NPO and ROY Company

The Reiwa 8 Kumamoto earthquake struck on 28 July 2026, with a maximum observed intensity of 7 in Ujiyama and Hikawa towns. In response, the non‑profit Izakaya Koshien set up a disaster‑response headquarters, launching three aid initiatives: distribution of plate donations meeting specific size and condition criteria, placement of donation‑box labels for participating eateries, and a bank‑account donation drive for monetary support.

Corporate construction firm ROY also mobilised, dispatching staff nationwide to Kumamoto to conduct housing repairs. The company pledged a ¥1 million (≈ US$7,000) donation to Kumamoto Prefecture and prioritised restoring safe living conditions for affected families. Both organisations aim to assist the region’s recovery through material aid and financial contributions.
