Kumamoto earthquake relief efforts continue through community fundraising

Various community organizations and clubs are conducting fundraising activities to support recovery efforts following the Kumamoto earthquake.

In Tochigi Prefecture, the Utsunomiya East Rotary Club presented 1.2 million yen in relief funds to Kumamoto Governor Tomikazu Fukuda. The donation was provided by the Kaohsiung City Fengshan District Rotary Club in Taiwan, with whom the Utsunomiya club maintains a long-standing friendship. The funds will be distributed through the Japanese Red Cross Society.

In Oita Prefecture, students from the Fujioka High School Interact Club held a four-day fundraising campaign at JR Hita Station. The students organized the drive after visiting Kumamoto for an exchange program just two days before the earthquake occurred, prompting them to seek ways to assist their peers in the affected region.
