Kumamoto earthquake relief efforts expand through corporate and student initiatives
Various organizations and student groups are conducting relief efforts for the Kumamoto earthquake.
JA Town, an online marketplace operated by Zen-Noh, has expanded its support by adding 500 additional 'Kumamoto Reconstruction Support Sets' with free shipping. The initiative also includes a program where 50 yen from every item sold at the 'you+you Kumamoto Agricultural and Livestock Products Market' is donated to earthquake relief.
Nissin Foods has deployed kitchen cars equipped with hot water functions to provide food relief at five shelters in Yatsushiro and Kumamoto City. The company distributed 'Cold Cup Noodles' and specialized nutritional foods to assist evacuees.
In Sendai, 54 students from Tohoku Gakuin University and affiliated high schools conducted a two-day fundraising campaign. The effort raised 1,000,165 yen, which will be donated to both the Kumamoto earthquake and the Chiba heavy rain disaster victims through the Japanese Red Cross.
