Kumanovo municipality reports surge in public procurement value

An analysis of public procurement data for the Kumanovo municipality reveals a significant increase in contract values for 2025. The municipality concluded 97 contracts worth approximately 13.3 million euros, representing a 126.4% increase from the 5.9 million euros recorded in 2024.

Data from the Electronic Public Procurement System indicates a high concentration of these funds, with a single company, KOOP INZHENIRING DOO Kumanovo, securing 17 contracts totaling approximately 7.6 million euros. This accounts for 57% of the total analyzed contract value for the year. Additionally, the value of contracts concluded through processes with only a single bidder rose from 2.9 million to 6 million euros.

Separately, the Kumanovo Council has approved changes to the municipal public transport system effective January 1, 2027. The decision includes a 15 denar price increase for bus fares and a reduction in the number of bus lines from 26 to 19. Officials cited rising energy costs and minimum wage increases as reasons for the fare adjustment, while opposition members criticized the move for increasing the financial burden on citizens.
