Kumanovo traffic accidents drop 25% following surveillance rollout

The implementation of the ‘Safe City’ video surveillance system has led to a 25 percent reduction in traffic accidents in Kumanovo. According to data from the Kumanovo Police Station, 154 accidents were recorded in the first six months of this year, compared to 206 during the same period last year.

Tomislav Dodevski, commander of the Kumanovo Police Station, informed the Kumanovo Municipal Council that current surveillance covers the ‘Oktoemvriska Revolucija’ boulevard and the ‘Tabakana’ locality. However, noting that existing coverage is insufficient to meet citizen requests and police assessments, authorities plan to expand the system by installing cameras at three additional locations in the city as soon as possible.
