Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly issues eviction notice to commercial drivers

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued an eviction notice to commercial drivers operating near the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), specifically around the Gee Roundabout. The directive aims to address unauthorized parking and loading activities that affect the hospital enclave.

Drivers are instructed to stop loading and parking on the road shoulders between the 4th Battalion of Infantry (4BN) gate and the Gee Roundabout. The notice excludes the designated taxi rank located in front of the Polyclinic within the KATH premises. Affected drivers have until October 30, 2026, to vacate these locations and return to approved loading points or their respective transport unions.

Starting November 1, 2026, a KMA task force will begin enforcement operations. Vehicles found in violation of the directive will be removed and detained. The Assembly stated the move is intended to ensure free traffic flow, improve road safety, and maintain order around the hospital area.
