Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly urban enforcement

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has initiated several enforcement and relocation directives to manage urban space and traffic flow in Kumasi.

In early October 2026, the KMA issued an ultimatum for traders, garage operators, and businesses at the Abrepo Junction to vacate the area by October 4. This move supports Phase 1 of the Suame Interchange Project, which includes constructing a three-tier interchange and overpasses, as well as widening bypass roads. Demolition teams were scheduled to begin removing unauthorized structures within the project corridor starting October 8.

Following this, the KMA issued a separate eviction notice to commercial drivers operating near the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, specifically around the Gee Roundabout. To address unauthorized parking and loading, drivers were instructed to vacate road shoulders between the 4th Battalion of Infantry gate and the Gee Roundabout by October 30. Enforcement operations by a KMA task force were set to begin on November 1, 2026, to ensure road safety and traffic flow around the hospital enclave.
