Kupres expands tourism appeal beyond winter sports
Kupres, traditionally known as a winter sports destination, is seeing a rise in summer tourism driven by diverse outdoor activities. According to Ivan Bagarić, manager of the Adria Ski Centar, the number of tourists is increasing annually, even as overnight stays remain comparable to previous years.
Key attractions contributing to this growth include motorcycle rallies, such as the Bosnia Rally, which serves as a base for participants undertaking daily routes of 250 to 300 kilometers. These events provide a significant boost to the local economy by filling accommodation and benefiting local hospitality and service sectors.
Additionally, the region is exploring potential in cycling, particularly electric biking, to appeal to a broader demographic. The diverse terrain, characterized by high plateaus, hills, and mountains, is cited as a primary advantage for developing both motorcycle and mountain biking tourism.
