Kupres expands tourism from winter skiing to summer activities
Kupres is evolving beyond its traditional role as a winter destination, seeing a rise in interest for summer tourism activities. According to Ivan Bagarić, manager of the Adria Ski Centar, the region is attracting more tourists year-over-year, driven by events such as motorcycle rallies and cycling.
One major draw is the Bosnia Rally, a multi-day off-road and navigation event that utilizes the area's diverse terrain. These gatherings provide a significant boost to the local economy by filling accommodation capacities and increasing demand for catering and other service industries. Additionally, there is growing potential in mountain biking and electric cycling to attract a broader demographic.
To bolster its winter offerings, the Adria Ski Centar is currently installing a new four-seater chairlift. This modern lift, equipped with protective covers against wind and snow, is expected to increase capacity and allow skiers to access more than 13 kilometers of trails. The center is also working on water infrastructure, including a new reservoir and pumping station, to support artificial snowmaking.
