Kurobe Dam unveils new themed sweets in Omachi, Japan

Staff members of the Kurobe Dam project have created a line of five "Kurobe Dam Sweets" that reflect the dam’s black structure and the green color of its lake. The first three items – a monaka set, a curry‑bread‑style sweet, and a drink – went on sale on 1 July 2026 at the dam’s drink corner, with prices ranging from ¥650 to ¥1,000. Buyers of the first‑batch products could receive a limited‑edition acrylic charm (first 100 units).

A second batch of two desserts – shaved ice and a parfait – will be offered from 1 September 2026 at the observation‑deck restaurant. The initiative aims to boost tourism by giving visitors, especially younger and inbound travelers, a novel way to experience the iconic dam.

The sweets are promoted by the Omachi City Promotion Committee and are part of a broader effort to enhance the Kurobe Dam’s appeal as a sightseeing destination in Toyama Prefecture.
