Kurt Weill Festival series launches in Dessau, Germany
Dessau’s Kurt‑Weill Society is organising a multi‑month cultural programme ahead of the 35th Kurt‑Weill Festival. The series, called “Weill am Abend”, opens on 13 August with an open‑air concert by singer‑songwriter Tom, followed by a jazz programme in early September featuring the Junior Jazz Orchestra and an ensemble of the Kurt‑Weill music school.
On 1 October a multimedia presentation will trace Saxony‑Anhalt’s history from Otto the Great to the present. A theatre group performs on 5 November, a cellist appears two weeks later, and Tom returns for a second concert evening. Tickets are already on sale.
Between 26 February and 14 March 2027 roughly 70 events are scheduled in Dessau and the surrounding region, with actors such as Heiner Lauterbach, Ulrich Tukur, Mechthild Großmann and Benno Fürmann slated to appear. The 35th festival will be held the following year under the motto “Mehr als Worte”.
