Kurume City to host tourism expo and Shuya Kahoku art exhibition
Kurume City will host the 20th annual “Kurume Machi Tabi Hakurankai” tourism program from October to December 2026. The event features 70 experiential programs organized by local residents across four themes: craftsmanship and industry, beauty and history, adventure, and culinary charms. Activities include indigo dyeing, Kurume Kasuri weaving, sake brewery tours, and Wagyu beef tastings.
Additionally, the Kurume City Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition titled “The Design Journey of Shuya Kahoku.” The exhibition showcases the work of the Kurume-born art director, known for his high-artistry posters for the Oita-based barley shochu brand “Iichiko.”
