Kurume Machitabi Expo celebrates 20th anniversary with local travel programs
The 20th Kurume Machitabi Expo, known as ‘Machitabi’, is preparing for its upcoming season. This community-driven initiative features handmade travel plans developed by local residents of Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, utilizing regional resources such as nature, agriculture, traditional crafts, and local food culture.
To promote the upcoming programs, a ‘Machitabi Festa’ will be held on September 5, 2026, at Michi-no-Eki Kurume. The event will offer early access to the latest guidebooks, hands-on experiences, product sales, and various activities to showcase the region's charm.
Reservations for the Machitabi programs running from October to December 2026 will open on September 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM. The programs are categorized into themes including ‘Mastery and Industry’, ‘Beauty and History Exploration’, ‘Adventure Trips’, and ‘Culinary Charms’. All bookings are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
