Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina mark war crime anniversaries

Various commemorations are being held across Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to mark anniversaries of casualties and war crimes committed during the Homeland War.

In Grabovica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, ceremonies marked the 33rd anniversary of the massacre of 33 Croatian civilians by members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Officials, including Dragan Čović, emphasized the need for truth and justice, noting that the remains of 17 victims have yet to be found. Concerns were also raised regarding construction waste and potentially carcinogenic materials being disposed of near the memorial site.

In Croatia, several locations held memorial services. In Kusonje, ceremonies marked the 35th anniversary of the deaths of 20 Croatian defenders who were killed in an ambush in 1991, as well as a subsequent mine incident in 1993 that killed three more individuals. In Biloj Vlaka, honors were paid to Tomislav Kardum and Šime Džepina, who were killed in an ambush in 1994.

Additionally, Koprivnica marked the 35th anniversary of its Information Center, highlighting its critical role in communication and public warning during the war years.
