Kutno commemorates Warsaw Uprising with white‑red ribbons

On 29–30 July, marking the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, white‑red ribbons bearing the inscription “63 days of the Warsaw Uprising” were placed on the graves of participants in Kutno and nearby towns. The action, organized by the Society of Friends of Kutno Land together with the Institute of National Remembrance’s Łódź branch, was inspired by long‑time board member Aleksandra Szafrańska, who died in 2025. Since 2019 the group has identified 21 graves of soldiers, medics and civilians on the parish cemetery in Kutno and, together with local libraries and residents, marked a total of 32 graves across Kutno, Krośniewice, Łęki Kościelne, Nowe, Strzelce, Strzegocin and Żychlin. A monument in Kutno also lists seven fallen whose bodies were never recovered. The initiative aims to honour local residents who fought in the uprising and to raise public awareness of their sacrifice.
