Poland holds military commemorations and announces exercises
Overview
Following the nationwide celebrations of Armed Forces Day and the Battle of Warsaw on August 15, 2026, Poland continues its series of military and historical commemorations. In Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą, ceremonies held at the former site of the 47th School Helicopter Regiment brought together local military units, such as the 63rd Light Infantry Battalion, and veterans from the Association of Military Aviation Seniors of the Republic of Poland.
On September 5–6, 2026, the Museum of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 in Ossów hosted Polish Cavalry Day. The event marked the 20th anniversary of the Federation of Volunteer Cavalry of the Republic of Poland and featured the Polish Equestrian Weaponry Championships, cavalry unit displays involving approximately 100 horses, shooting competitions, and modern military equipment presentations.
Looking toward active training, the Polish General Command of the Armed Forces has announced the ‘Czarny Obrońca ’26’ military exercises, scheduled for September 14–24, 2026. Led by the 1st Armored Cavalry Division, the maneuvers will involve land, sea, and air operations across the Lubuskie, Pomorskie, and Zachodniopomorskie voivodeships, as well as national airspace and maritime zones.
Due to the movement of military equipment, authorities have warned of increased road traffic starting September 7. Civilian drivers are advised to maintain safe distances and avoid driving between vehicles in columns. For security reasons, the military has requested that citizens refrain from publishing real-time photos, videos, or transit routes of military units on social media.
