Iran launches drone and missile strikes on Kuwait’s Ali al Salem airbase and Abdali border crossing

Iranian forces carried out a series of drone and missile attacks against Kuwait, targeting the U.S.-linked Ali al Salem airbase and the Abdali border crossing with Iraq. The Kuwaiti army reported that its air‑defence systems intercepted hostile unmanned aircraft, hearing “explosions … as a result of intercepting enemy targets” (Greek statement). The Ministry of Defence spokesman Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al‑Otaibi said the Abdali crossing was hit by hostile drones, causing material damage but no human casualties.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed the strikes were retaliation for U.S. actions in the Strait of Hormuz, saying it also hit U.S. equipment at bases in Kuwait and Jordan. Kuwait’s air‑defence units were activated, and officials said most projectiles were intercepted before reaching critical sites. No casualties were reported in either the airbase or border‑crossing incidents, though material damage was confirmed.

The attacks mark an escalation of the 2026 Iran‑U.S. conflict into Kuwaiti territory, raising concerns about regional stability and the security of Gulf energy routes.
