Kuwait condemns Iranian attacks and calls for UN Charter adherence

Kuwait has reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations Charter, emphasizing the necessity of respecting state sovereignty and resolving disputes through peaceful means. During discussions at the UN General Assembly, Kuwaiti representatives stressed that the Charter's provisions are binding obligations for all member states and must not be interpreted selectively based on political or strategic interests.

Kuwait issued a strong condemnation of Iranian attacks involving missiles and drones that have targeted Kuwaiti territory since February 28, 2026. These strikes reportedly hit civilian infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport and the headquarters of the Public Institution for Social Security. Kuwait characterized these actions as flagrant violations of its sovereignty and a direct threat to civilian safety.

In response to these developments, Kuwait called on Iran to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). Additionally, Kuwait highlighted the dangers of illicit arms trafficking and the use of conventional weapons by militias, noting that such activities undermine regional stability and prolong conflicts.
