Kuwait faces increased Iranian strikes amid US-Iran conflict

Six months into the conflict between the United States and Iran, Kuwait faces increasing instability due to the presence of American troops. Following US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, the Islamic republic and its allies have launched recurrent barrages against Kuwaiti targets, including energy installations, water desalination plants, and military bases hosting US personnel.

Economic pressures have intensified as Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz threatens Kuwait’s oil export-dependent revenue. While some citizens remain supportive of the US alliance, others have begun to question the presence of foreign troops, viewing them as a liability that makes the nation a target for Iranian retaliation. Analysts suggest Iran is using Gulf states as a theatre to pressure the US into halting its military operations.
