Kwadaso MCE Eric Assibey launches 24-Hour Economy Market construction

Municipal Chief Executive Eric Assibey of Kwadaso cut the sod for a new 24‑Hour Economy Market, a multi‑purpose facility that will include a police station, banking centre, clinic and other amenities to support round‑the‑clock trading. The project is part of Ghana's flagship 24‑hour economy policy, which aims to introduce a three‑shift working system to boost productivity.

Assibey said the market will create jobs, improve trading conditions and position Kwadaso as a commercial hub in the Ashanti Region. The contractor, EMMAKS Construction Works Limited, has been given a 36‑month deadline but plans to finish in 24 months. The government, through the Ministry of Local Government, has allocated funding and directed that 70% of the workforce be hired locally to address unemployment.
