Kwara State Agency Orders Demolition of Unsafe Building in Ilorin, Nigeria
The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) sealed a dilapidated one‑storey building in the Oke‑Suna area of Ilorin East Local Government Area and ordered its immediate demolition, citing a serious threat to lives and property. The action followed community complaints that the structure was structurally unsafe and at risk of collapse. KWEPA General Manager Hon. Jide Aina warned that the building’s owner must commence demolition promptly, stating that failure to comply would force the state government to demolish the structure itself in order to protect residents.
Aina reaffirmed the state’s commitment to proactive environmental enforcement, urging citizens to report abandoned or unsafe structures and other hazards so that swift intervention can prevent avoidable tragedies.
