Kwara State PDP youths demand enhanced security measures
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing in Kwara State has called on the state government to implement comprehensive security measures following the recent rescue of approximately 167 kidnap victims from the Woro and Nuku communities.
While praising security agencies for the successful rescue operations, PDP Youth Leader Adio Friday Odunjo emphasized that rescue efforts must be accompanied by rehabilitation, justice, and prevention strategies to avoid recurring tragedies. The group warned against insecurity becoming a permanent fixture in the state.
The youth wing highlighted the significant impact of insecurity on the education sector, citing several disruptions including the closure of the State School of Nursing in Oke Ode, the relocation of the NYSC orientation camp from Yikpata to Ilorin, and the merger of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, with its Ilorin counterpart. They also noted that multiple schools were merged for the recent National Examinations Council (NECO) exams due to safety concerns.
