Kwara State residents allege security personnel involvement in banditry ransoms
Residents in Kwara State's Ilorin East and Kaiama local government areas have raised serious allegations regarding security personnel and the aftermath of banditry attacks. In Woru and surrounding communities, residents claim that some police and military personnel have failed to respond to terrorist attacks and have actively assisted criminals by directing families to specific locations to deliver ransom payments.
One resident alleged that when families are unsure where to deliver cash demanded by terrorists, the criminals instruct them to seek guidance from police or military officers on highways, who then allegedly direct them to the criminals' locations.
In a separate development within the Kaiama area, community leaders in Woro and Nuku are calling for government financial intervention to support 163 rescued victims of banditry. While local leaders praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for security interventions and recent infrastructure improvements, they emphasized the need for economic empowerment to help victims rebuild their lives and businesses following the loss of property and lives.
