KWF Kankerbestrijding launches annual national fundraising week

KWF Kankerbestrijding is launching its annual national collection week to fund cancer research and support those affected by the disease. In various regions, including the Fjouwer villages and Berkelland, collectors will go door-to-door to solicit donations.

In Berkelland, the collection period runs from September 1 to September 7. Coordinator Jaime Lebbink noted the high necessity of these funds, highlighting that approximately 850,000 people in the Netherlands are currently living with or after cancer. Research funded by KWF has contributed to a significant increase in survival rates, with 66 percent of patients now surviving the first five years following diagnosis, compared to 25 percent at the organization's inception.

Donations can be made via collectors' QR codes, through the KWF website, or at designated donation boxes located in areas such as Eibergen and Borculo. KWF is currently seeking additional volunteers in Borculo, Neede, Geesteren, Gelselaar, Ruurlo, and Eibergen to expand their reach.
