Kyiv faces intensified drone attacks amid rising winter concerns
Kyiv is facing increasingly frequent and intense drone attacks as the fifth winter of the war approaches. Recent escalations involve the use of jet-powered drones, which are faster and more difficult to intercept than older propeller-driven models.
These continuous strikes have disrupted daily life in the Ukrainian capital, forcing children into underground shelters during school hours and causing cancellations of public events. Residents face growing concerns regarding potential disruptions to electricity and water supplies, which have been frequently impacted by Russian strikes since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Recent attacks have caused direct civilian injuries, including a recent strike near a bridge on the eastern bank of the Dnipro river that injured two people in a vehicle. As the intensity of the aerial campaigns increases, residents express growing anxiety about the upcoming winter season.
