Kyiv hit by explosions and missile strikes

Approximately ten powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv during the early morning hours of Thursday, occurring shortly before air raid sirens were activated. The explosions were intense enough to trigger vehicle alarms in the capital.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued warnings regarding the launch of Russian ballistic missiles directed toward the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. Reports indicate that a Russian ballistic missile strike hit an energy facility in Kyiv, resulting in power outages and water supply disruptions in parts of the city.

These attacks follow a wave of Russian strikes on Wednesday that killed at least seven people across Ukraine and caused fires in Kyiv. The frequency of strikes using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles has increased significantly in recent days.

Separately, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the UN Security Council, stating that Moscow does not intend to make a ‘pause’ in its military operations against Ukraine.
