Kyiv missile strikes spark fires as Russia‑Ukraine drone exchanges intensify

Russian missile attacks hit Kyiv on Sunday, igniting fires in several districts of the capital. Officials reported debris causing blazes in at least three locations, including a multi‑storey residential building, but no casualties were confirmed.

Ukrainian air defenses reported shooting down numerous Russian drones, while Russian forces claimed to have downed 1,060 Ukrainian drones and eight guided bombs in the preceding 24 hours. Both sides also reported strikes on logistical and military facilities, including Ukrainian ports on the Danube.

In a separate development, the Romanian Air Force intercepted a Russian drone over the Black Sea, marking the first such interception by Romania since the conflict began. Romanian officials condemned the violation of their NATO‑protected airspace.
