Kyiv Sirens Sound Amid Alerts of Possible Russian Ballistic Missile Attack

Air raid sirens were activated twice in Kyiv and several other Ukrainian regions in the early hours of Saturday after Ukrainian authorities warned of a possible Russian ballistic missile strike. The first warning was issued at 00:44, followed by a second alert later in the night; both alerts were lifted by the Air Force at 02:06. The Ukrainian Air Force cited a threat of ballistic weapons coming from the direction of Taganrog, a Russian city near the border. No missiles were launched, and no damage or casualties were reported.

President Volodymyr Zelensky used the moment to mark the 12th anniversary of the MH17 tragedy, describing the 2014 downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight as an act of terrorism and urging the international community to hold Russia accountable for its actions against Ukraine and other nations.
