Kylian Mbappé signs with On and addresses Ceuta shirt controversy

Kylian Mbappé has ended his long-standing partnership with Nike to sign a new deal with the Swiss sportswear company On. The agreement marks On’s strategic entry into the football market, with the company planning to launch its first football boots in 2027. Mbappé will serve as a global brand ambassador and will participate in the development and testing of new products. Additionally, former French international Thierry Henry has been appointed as On’s Director of Football.

Separately, Mbappé has faced significant controversy regarding a gesture made during a Real Madrid match against Elche. Alongside Vinícius Júnior and Ibrahima Konaté, the player wore a solidarity shirt for the Spanish enclave of Ceuta but kept it partially rolled up, obscuring the message. Mbappé clarified his position, stating he has full solidarity with Ceuta but also wished to express empathy for migrants facing difficult conditions, noting, “Before I am a player, I am a human being.” The incident drew criticism from political figures and supporter groups, including Ultras Sur.
