Kyoto high school baseball and junior soccer tournaments wrap up with key victories

In the second round of the Kyoto High School Baseball Tournament, the seeded Higashiyama High School opened with a cold start but defeated Ayabe High School, advancing with the goal of securing a win on its own merits. The same day, the 59th Seluma Cup junior soccer championship, organized by the Japan Football Association for U‑12 teams, concluded in Kyoto with matches held at Takaraike Stadium and other venues.

Both events highlighted the region’s active youth sports scene, with Higashiyama’s win marking a notable upset in the baseball bracket and the Seluma Cup delivering its final results for the participating junior teams.
