Kyrgyzstan industrial production accelerates with mining surge
Kyrgyzstan has demonstrated significant industrial growth, leading the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in production increases during the first half of 2026. According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, Kyrgyzstan recorded a 12.7% year-on-year increase in industrial output from January to June, outpacing other member states such as Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
Recent data from July shows industrial production accelerated to a 6.3% annual increase, up from 5% in June. This growth was driven largely by a 38.5% surge in the mining and quarrying sector, which rebounded following a decline in June. Other contributing sectors include water and waste management, which grew by 20.3%, and the energy sector, which saw a 4.7% increase.
While mining remains a major driver, the country is seeing diversification in its industrial base. Reports indicate substantial growth in chemical production, pharmaceuticals, vehicle manufacturing, and construction materials. However, the manufacturing sector's growth slowed to 0.4% in July, and analysts note that the rapid expansion of the production base may place increasing pressure on the nation's energy infrastructure.
