Kyrgyzstan public debt falls to 37.5% of GDP

Kyrgyzstan’s public debt has decreased to 37.5 percent of its GDP, according to a weekly macroeconomic review by the Eurasian Development Bank. The country is currently operating with a budget surplus, which reached 7.3 percent of GDP during the January-July 2026 period.

Following strong economic growth and improved fiscal stability, Moody’s upgraded Kyrgyzstan’s sovereign credit rating from B3 to B2. While the B2 rating remains in the speculative category, indicating ongoing credit risks, the upgrade reflects improved solvency. The Eurasian Development Bank projects that the economy will grow by an average of approximately 10 percent annually between 2022 and 2025.

In the first seven months of this year, Kyrgyzstan’s GDP grew by 11.1 percent, while fixed capital investment rose by 58.8 percent. Key drivers of this expansion include domestic demand, construction, industry, and public infrastructure projects.
