Kyriakos Mitsotakis inaugurates new school and sports complex in Thessaloniki
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Western Thessaloniki to inaugurate new educational facilities and lay the foundation for a major sports complex. In Ampelokipoi-Menemeni, the Prime Minister attended the inauguration of the new 5th Primary School, a modern bioclimatic building constructed through a public-private partnership (PPP) that will accommodate over 200 students. This school is part of a broader program to construct 17 new school units in Central Macedonia, with maintenance guaranteed for 25 years.
Additionally, the Prime Minister attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new €32 million bioclimatic swimming complex at the former ‘Alexander the Great’ camp. The facility will feature an Olympic-sized indoor pool, a training pool for children, and an outdoor pool, serving four aquatic sports including diving, with a unique 10-meter diving platform.
The visits are part of a strategic effort to highlight government infrastructure investments in Northern Greece ahead of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). The Prime Minister emphasized that these projects represent a transition from political rhetoric to tangible action for the residents of Western Thessaloniki.
