Kyriakos Mitsotakis outlines Greek economic strategy and fiscal priorities

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has outlined his government's economic strategy, emphasizing the conversion of collective wealth into individual prosperity. He stated that while it is easy to increase spending, the priority is to build upon existing progress and maintain trust rather than engaging in excessive populist spending ahead of the 2027 elections.

Addressing the energy crisis, Mitsotakis defended the decision to maintain fiscal reserves to ensure the government can support society through a difficult winter. Regarding the business community's requests for debt restructuring, he noted that while the government has responded to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, all actions must respect the limits of economic resilience.

Additionally, Mitsotakis marked the 52nd anniversary of the New Democracy party, founded by Konstantinos Karamanlis, highlighting the party's ability to adapt to changing times and its commitment to Greek interests. He concluded that political stability is a prerequisite for economic progress and long-term planning.
