Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirms Greek sovereignty and defense modernization

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that Greece is a force for peace that neither threatens other nations nor yields to intimidation. Speaking during a military parade in Thessaloniki to commemorate the October 28 national anniversary, Mitsotakis honored the sacrifices made against fascism and Nazism, noting that these historical events serve as a reminder that freedom and peace must be actively defended.

Mitsotakis highlighted that the Greek Armed Forces are currently undergoing the largest defense modernization and procurement program in their history. He noted that the advanced weapons systems showcased during the parade are intended to project strong deterrent power to protect Greece’s sovereignty and sovereign rights. He also emphasized that national security and deterrent capabilities are fundamentally linked to economic stability and the prosperity of the Greek people.
