Kyrie Irving prepares for NBA return with Dallas Mavericks
Kyrie Irving has announced his readiness to return to the NBA for the 2026-2027 season with the Dallas Mavericks following a 19-month absence due to an ACL injury. The 34-year-old guard stated he no longer experiences pain and possesses full confidence to compete in his 16th professional season.
The Mavericks are looking to improve their performance after a difficult previous season where they recorded a 26-56 record, their worst in eight years. The team will be led by head coach Dusty May.
Despite his return, speculation regarding Irving's future with Dallas persists. NBA insider Jake Fischer has identified the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat as potential trade destinations. While the Rockets have not officially pursued Irving, analysts suggest his potential as an offensive upgrade makes him a candidate for movement before the February trade deadline.
