Kyrie Irving to mentor Dallas Mavericks rookie Sergio De Larrea

Dallas Mavericks rookie Sergio De Larrea is preparing for his NBA debut under the mentorship of veteran guard Kyrie Irving. De Larrea, a 20-year-old Spanish playmaker selected with the 25th overall pick, has expressed deep respect for Irving, describing him as a leader who is eager to pass on his 15 years of experience to younger players.

During Media Day, Irving responded to De Larrea’s praise with humor, jokingly claiming he paid the rookie ‘a thousand dollars’ to say such kind words. However, Irving also offered serious praise, noting De Larrea’s high basketball IQ and winning mentality developed in Europe. Irving stated that the young guard has a strong desire to learn and can count on his full support.

Irving is returning to the court following a recovery period from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He is expected to be fully ready for the season opener against the Houston Rockets on October 21.
