Kyuden Voltex resumes rugby training after player's death

Kyuden Voltex, a rugby League One Division 2 team, has announced the resumption of team practices following a period of inactivity. The suspension followed the death of forward Simoni Bunilangi, who passed away on August 7 due to heatstroke after an outdoor training session.

To prevent future occurrences, the club has introduced several safety measures. These include installing WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) monitors at multiple locations on the grounds, with measurements to be recorded every 15 minutes. The team has established a policy to cancel or postpone all activities if the WBGT index reaches the dangerous threshold of 31 degrees Celsius.

Additional protocols include stricter health management for players, the provision of shaded areas, and enhanced cooling systems for emergencies. General Manager Jun Arakawa stated that the team intends to honor Bunilangi’s memory by strictly implementing these lessons and continuing their activities with sincerity.
