Kyushu travel subsidies launch on Rakuten Travel and Jalan net

Travel booking platforms Rakuten Travel and Jalan net are launching reservations for the ‘Kyushu Fukkou Ouen Wari’ (Kyushu Recovery Support Discount) to stimulate tourism in the Kyushu region. The initiative, announced by the Japan Tourism Agency, aims to recover travel demand following the impact of the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake.

The program offers subsidies of up to 50% of travel costs for most prefectures, with higher discounts of up to 60% for Kumamoto and Kagoshima. Rakuten Travel will begin sales for Oita Prefecture on September 25 at noon, covering accommodation and dynamic packages for stays between October 1 and December 25.

Jalan net is rolling out reservations for Saga, Miyazaki, and Oita prefectures starting September 24 and 25. While reservations for Nagasaki and Kumamoto were previously opened, they are currently suspended due to reaching budget limits. Fukuoka and Kagoshima are expected to follow soon.
