L3Harris advances Moroccan C-130 modernization program
L3Harris Technologies is advancing a modernization program for the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. The initiative aims to enhance the fleet's operational effectiveness, longevity, and technological sophistication to support missions such as tactical airlift, humanitarian assistance, and special operations.
The contract, originally awarded in mid-July 2025, includes avionics modifications, depot maintenance, engine overhauls, and other support efforts. Work is being conducted at the L3Harris maintenance and modification facility in Waco, Texas, with the program scheduled to continue through 2029.
A significant milestone was reached in late August 2026 when inspections were completed on the first RMAF C-130. This aircraft is currently undergoing repairs and receiving upgrades, including a new standby instrument and digital engine display. The program plans to induct a second aircraft in the third quarter of the year, followed by a third aircraft that will receive a full digital cockpit upgrade.
