GRAVITEO urban sports festival launches at Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya

The GRAVITEO festival opened on Friday at the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya, offering a three‑day programme of official competitions and cultural activities. Athletes competed in the European Speed Climbing Cup, the Spanish Skateboarding Street Championship, roller‑freestyle, scooter street and other urban‑sport disciplines, with more than 1,000 participants from over 35 countries expected. Organisers highlighted the mix of elite and amateur events, live music, DJ sets and food stalls, and made entry free with prior registration. Spectators could also watch the European Boulder Championship and other contests via YouTube streams. The event emphasised community spirit; skaters Kim and Max said, “El deporte urbano todavía no está presente en la mentalidad popular, es ‘underground’, y eso es parte de su gracia. No hay peleas por ser de diferentes equipos.” Local sports minister Berni Álvarez praised the festival as a unique, original experience for the region.
