La Boquilla and Las Vírgenes dams show diverging water levels

Water storage levels at the La Boquilla and Las Vírgenes dams show diverging trends. As of August 21, La Boquilla holds 647.245 million cubic meters (Mm³), representing 22.74% of its total capacity. While this is a decrease from the 24.91% recorded in 2025, it remains higher than the 16.70% recorded in 2024.

In contrast, the Las Vírgenes dam has shown sustained recovery. It currently holds 184.819 Mm³, or 55.45% of its capacity. This is a significant increase from the 13.47% recorded in 2024 and the 46.70% recorded in 2025. Although Las Vírgenes has a higher percentage of fill, La Boquilla maintains approximately 3.5 times more water in absolute terms due to its much larger total capacity.
