La Guaira beaches to reopen on weekends following earthquakes

The La Guaira Beach Tourism Chamber and the regional government have announced the partial reopening of beaches in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira, starting October 31, 2026. This decision follows the recovery efforts after a double earthquake occurred on June 24, 2026.

Commercial activities will be restricted to Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During weekdays, beaches will remain closed to the public to allow for ongoing infrastructure rehabilitation and technical training for service providers. Approximately 80% of the state's beaches, or about 55 locations, are expected to be operational during this initial phase.

To ensure safety and order, service providers must adhere to strict regulations, including using official Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) exchange rates for pricing, wearing mandatory uniforms, and maintaining moderate sound levels. Prohibitions include the use of high-power sound equipment and the consumption of alcohol or cigarettes by staff during working hours. Certain areas, such as Playa Coral, El Yate, and Puerto Viejo, will remain closed for further recovery.
