La Laguna City Council launches €1.4 million voucher scheme to boost local shopping

The La Laguna City Council has allocated €1.4 million to a new local‑shopping voucher programme. Seventy thousand vouchers worth €20 each will be sold to residents for €10, with the council covering the remaining €10. Each person may purchase up to five vouchers, which will be linked to their national ID or passport. The scheme is being administered by the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), which will manage shop registration and technical development. For the first time, tattoo studios are allowed to join the list of participating businesses. The exact launch date will be announced after the registration of eligible shops is completed. The programme aims to increase footfall for small retailers, cafés and other local services, building on the success of similar voucher initiatives in Tenerife.
