La Pampa strengthens sudden death prevention through CPR and AED training

The province of La Pampa is strengthening its prevention and response network for sudden death through the ‘La Pampa Cardioprotegida’ program. Marking ten years of the initiative, the provincial government is expanding territorial training and coordinating with various institutions to ensure the community can intervene during the critical first minutes before emergency services arrive.

As part of the Sudden Death Awareness Week, held from August 21 to 27, the program provides training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The initiative has already certified over one thousand teachers and operates instructors across more than 50 localities.

In a recent action, security agents from the Government House Infantry Guard received a public-use portable defibrillator and underwent intensive training in first aid and emergency cardiac care. Officials noted that immediate assistance using an AED can increase patient survival rates by up to 70 percent, helping to establish a ‘chain of survival’ in public spaces and government centers.
